Frequently Asked Questions For Families
I regularly use St Endas Park, Marlay park, Deerpark, Palmerston park and Fernhill. However, I am more than happy to meet you at your favourite park and do your session there.
Where ever you want. I have held sessions in beaches, gardens,
woods, you name it. I think it is nice to have an outdoor photography session in a place that is important to you. Personally, I love our local park, we have lots of amazing memories there, so when deciding on my own family photos, I choose there. Now I love that we have gorgeous portraits of our children there.
Yes, I will always get an image with everyone looking at the camera in a more formal posed position. It is nice to have a mix and I know grandparents love these images.
Yes!! These are my favourite and allow for everyone to relax and have a bit of fun.
No. I have the same pricing structure for both types of sessions.
Sessions take approximately an hour, sometimes it can be even quicker. It is led by the children. I work quickly and can have your session done, before children get too tired
Yes it is. Although summer is a better time for babies outdoors as they get cold easily.
It is perfect for large groups, and I have all my extended family photography sessions outdoors.
Firstly, wear what you are comfortable in. It is worth steering away from logos and sports jerseys, they can distract from the photo and date. If you want to complement each other, it is worth all wearing one or 2 colours from the same colour pallet of 3 colours, breaking it up with white, beige and denim.
Yes of course.
Of course you can.
I cover Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare. For locations longer than 30 minutes travel time there may be a mileage cost.
Frequently Asked Questions For Babies
You don’t need anything for a newborn baby photography session. Depending on what you want, I can bring some props and wraps to use during your session. All backdrops and blankets are neutral in colour and I find that they date well. Along with the candid shots with the parents, you will get some studio like ones too.
It is always best to have the baby fed and changed before your newborn baby photography session. With that in mind, try and feed your baby 2-3 hours before the session, so that they are due a feed just before the session, for example if your session is at 12 o’clock, you should aim to feed at 11.30, you will therefore need to time the morning feed for 8.30 . Try to keep the baby awake after this feed for as long as possible. I am a big believer in baby led sessions, so if you baby needs to feed during the session, there is no problem, just be aware that that will lengthen the session time. I always allow for this, so don’t worry.
It is worth having a spare set of clothes at hand, in case there are any accidents. If you are looking for some bare skin photos, have the heating on and the house warm. Little babies can get very upset when they get cold (I don’t blame them!!). With that in mind, dress for a warm room yourself, so that you don’t get too hot and bothered. If your baby uses a soother, have that at hand too, to help settle them.
These sessions tend to be longer than a normal family session (approx 2 hours). This allows time for feeds etc. and to keep a relaxed mood for everyone involved. There is no pressure on anyone.
Simple clothes work best, no fuss. These images look great when kept simple and some of the bare skin photos can be beautiful. It is best to dress the baby in something comfortable and fuss free. If you want to have images of your baby wrapped and some skin shots, I can bring a selection of wraps that you can choose from. I keep all my tones very neutral and I find that they date well as a result.
